The work was originally conceived for an art-in-architecture project in Brunsbüttel on the North Sea - Baltic Sea Canal. After not winning the competition, I redesigned the work as an edition.
This fragment, piece and miniature of a gigantic ocean wave, refers back to Chinese scholar’s rocks. They consist of carved stones whose traces are dissolved by returning them to nature. They served their owners as meditation aids. During meditation, the stone transformed into a landscape and the person into a wanderer within it.
A similar synaesthetic effect may occur when you immerse yourself in the sculpture as a viewer.
